Reliance Bioenergy is a key part of this new-energy journey. The division focuses on replacing conventional
fossil fuels with renewable alternatives for transportation, industries, power plants and other applications. Its
portfolio includes Compressed Biogas (CBG), densified biomass pellets and briquettes, along with other
emerging bio-based fuels. By using locally available organic resources, the business supports energy security,
responsible waste management and the development of a circular economy. Compressed Biogas is produced
from organic materials such as agricultural residue, cattle dung, sugarcane press mud and the organic fraction
of municipal solid waste. These materials undergo anaerobic digestion to produce biogas, which is then
purified and compressed.
The CBG contains more than 96% methane by volume and has properties and calorific value comparable to
Compressed Natural Gas. This allows it to be integrated into existing gas infrastructure and used as a
renewable fuel for mobility, cooking and industrial purposes. The bioenergy process also creates valuable
organic manure.
Reliance markets its Fermented Organic Manure under the brand Bhoovedyam. Produced from biogas
digestate, Bhoovedyam helps return organic carbon and nutrients to the soil. It can support soil aeration,
moisture retention, microbial activity and improved nutrient-use efficiency, thereby encouraging more
sustainable agricultural practices. Through its bioenergy initiatives, Reliance is creating an integrated
ecosystem that connects farmers, waste generators, rural communities, fuel consumers and industries.
Agricultural and organic waste that may otherwise be burned or discarded is converted into clean fuel and
soil-enriching manure. This approach supports lower emissions, additional value for agricultural resources
and reduced dependence on conventional fuels. Reliance Bioenergy reflects RIL’s broader vision of
